On June 22, 2008, Scott Redding was a 15-year-old schoolboy from Gloucestershire, and made history when he won the 125cc British Grand Prix at Donington Park. He was the youngest ever winner in any class.
2013 saw Redding, now having reached adulthood, almost clinch the title in Moto2 and become the first British champion in any class since Barry Sheene's 500cc title in 1977. This was abruptly halted as Redding injured his wrist in a practice crash at Phillip Island. His title rival Pol Espargaró snatched the lead at that point, and clinched the title at Motegi as Redding crashed out on lap 1.
Nevertheless, both riders moved into MotoGP for 2014.
